Comparison
TokCloner vs CapCut and Pippit for slideshows
By TokCloner team · Updated
Short answer
Use CapCut if you want a video slideshow with music, transitions and captions; it has a free plan and Pro at $14/month. Use TokCloner if you want a TikTok photo slideshow or Instagram carousel rebuilt from a specific viral post with your business's words and images, as 1080×1920 PNGs from $29/month. TokCloner is not a video editor, so it does not replace CapCut for video.
Bottom line
CapCut is the better tool for anything with video, music, transitions or captions, and its free plan goes a long way; Pippit, which is powered by CapCut, adds AI video, avatars and scheduling. TokCloner only makes still image slides, but it starts from a specific viral photo slideshow or carousel and rebuilds it for your business. If you searched for a CapCut alternative to edit video, TokCloner is not it.

Pick CapCut if
- You want a video slideshow with music, transitions, effects or a voiceover.
- You edit any video at all; TokCloner does not handle video.
- You want a free tool and are happy to do the design work yourself.
- You want AI avatar or product videos, or to remix a viral video (Pippit).
- You want to schedule to TikTok, Instagram and Facebook from the same tool (Pippit).
Pick TokCloner if
- You post TikTok photo-mode slideshows or Instagram carousels, not videos.
- You want a specific photo post that worked rebuilt for your business, slide by slide.
- You want the copy written for you from your business profile.
- You want new images on every slide, or your own product photos placed for you.
CapCut and TokCloner both show up when you search for slideshow tools, but they make different things. A CapCut slideshow is a video: photos timed to music, with transitions and captions. TokCloner makes still image slides for TikTok photo mode and Instagram carousels, rebuilt from a specific post that already worked.
CapCut and Pippit details below come from their own sites, checked October 13, 2026.
What is CapCut?
CapCut is a video editor for desktop, web and mobile. It covers cutting, transitions, auto captions, text to speech, music and sound effects, plus AI tools for images, video and voice. Its Reels and TikTok templates let you swap in your own photos and clips, and its page says AI tools sync edits to the beat of the music.
CapCut also has still-image options. Its carousel template page has an Image tab, and AI Design generates social posts, banners and ads from a prompt and reference images.
What is Pippit?
Pippit is an AI content tool that says it is powered by CapCut. It has a Video Agent that turns links, files or media into videos, an Image Agent for posters and social posts, AI avatars and talking photos, and product content tools.
Its “Reference Video” option reuses a trending video’s script, structure and visuals for a new story. That is the same idea as TokCloner, applied to video. Pippit can also schedule image or video posts to Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
What is TokCloner?
TokCloner takes a link to a TikTok photo slideshow or Instagram carousel and rebuilds it for your business: same structure and hook pattern, new text and new images. It accepts image posts only. You get 1080×1920 PNGs to download and post yourself.
How to make a slideshow in CapCut
- Open CapCut on desktop, web or mobile and start a new project, or pick a template from Reels and TikTok templates.
- Import your photos and set how long each one stays on screen.
- Add transitions, text and music. Use auto captions or text to speech if you want a voice.
- Set the canvas to 9:16 for TikTok.
- Export with the resolution, frame rate and format you want, then post it to TikTok as a video.
The result is a video, not a photo-mode post. Viewers watch it at your pace instead of swiping. Our TikTok carousel guide explains the two formats.
How TokCloner works
- Paste a link to a public TikTok photo slideshow or Instagram carousel. You can save a reference copy with the TikTok slideshow downloader.
- TokCloner extracts the slides and reads each one’s text and styling.
- It maps the story: hook, supporting slides, payoff and CTA.
- It rewrites the copy for your business profile (name, audience, brand voice, product, visual style) and your instructions.
- It makes a new background per slide from the image model you choose, or uses your own photos at 0 credits.
- It composites the slides into 1080×1920 PNGs in about 1–3 minutes. Edit text, font, color, stroke, shadow and position, or regenerate one slide, then download.
For an online plant shop, a slideshow that opens “Before and after: my balcony in 30 days” might come back as “Before and after: our monstera in 30 days,” with the same reveal structure. Credit the creator who inspired you, and never repost their images or text as your own.
Photo mode or video: which should you post?
Both formats work. The right one depends on the content.
- Post a video when timing matters: a reveal on the beat, a voiceover, motion or real clips. CapCut is built for this.
- Post a photo slideshow when the value is in the text: lists, steps, tier lists, myths and facts. Viewers swipe at their own speed and can stop to read each slide.
If you are unsure, make one of each from the same slides and compare them in your TikTok analytics. Our formats library shows which structures suit swipeable slides.

Pippit’s page lists credits under a “Monthly” label but does not say plainly whether they renew monthly, so check before you buy. Either way, CapCut and Pippit are cheaper to start than TokCloner, and both have free plans. A TokCloner clone costs 3 credits plus 1–21+ per generated background, and your own photos are free.
Output and limits
CapCut exports video, with resolution, quality, frame rate and format set in advanced settings, and its editor page says exports have no watermark. AI generation is limited by plan credits.
Pippit focuses on video, images and avatars. Its schedule tool supports Facebook, Instagram and TikTok but not LinkedIn yet, and its homepage does not mention a slideshow or carousel tool.
TokCloner exports 1080×1920 (9:16) PNGs only, with no video, music, 4:5 or square output. There is no scheduler, no analytics and no team seats.
Is TokCloner a CapCut alternative?
Most people searching “CapCut alternative” want another video editor. TokCloner is not one. It cannot trim clips, add music or export MP4.
It is an alternative only if what you were building in CapCut was a photo slideshow. If those videos are really a list of slides with text, posting them as a photo-mode slideshow is an option, and TokCloner can rebuild a proven one for you.
