TikTok and Instagram carousels for coaches
By TokCloner team · Updated
Short answer
Coaches grow on TikTok and Instagram by teaching in public, and photo slideshows and carousels let you do it without filming: a hook on slide 1, one useful idea per slide, and one small next step at the end. Keep claims honest. The FTC treats the client results you show as what buyers can expect, and a "results not typical" line does not change that.
The workflow
- 1
Turn client questions into a content list
Write down the 20 questions clients ask before they buy. Each one is a slideshow: a myth, a mistake, a framework or a step-by-step answer.
- 2
Find carousels that teach well, in any niche
A myth-vs-fact carousel about fitness has the same shape as one about pricing. Save teaching posts with lots of saves and shares as templates.
- 3
Rebuild them with your method and voice
Your business profile holds your offer, audience and voice. TokCloner keeps the structure and rewrites every slide around what you teach, using your own photos if you add them.
- 4
Post to TikTok and Instagram
Post the 9:16 slides to TikTok as a photo post. On Instagram, keep text in the middle of each slide, because the feed crops to 3:4.
- 5
Offer one next step
End with one small ask: a free checklist, a comment keyword or a link to book a call. Never a wall of offers.
- 6
Measure saves, sends and conversations
Track saves, shares, profile visits and the DMs or bookings each post starts. Make more variants of the posts that start conversations.
Coaches grow on TikTok and Instagram by teaching in public. Photo slideshows and carousels are the fastest way to do that without filming: a hook on slide 1, one useful idea per slide, and one small next step at the end. A good carousel gets saved and sent, which is how it reaches people who have never heard of you.
This page covers what to post and how TikTok and Instagram differ for coaches. It also has three example posts written out slide by slide, and the rules that catch coaches out.
Why carousels suit coaches
You sell expertise, and expertise is information. A carousel breaks one idea into steps that people can read at their own pace and come back to.
Instagram has said what it rewards. In 2023, Adam Mosseri wrote that the most important actions Instagram predicts in Explore “include likes, saves, and shares.” In January 2025, Social Media Today reported him naming watch time, likes and sends as the top ranking signals. He added that sends matter slightly more for reaching people who do not follow you. A carousel someone forwards to a friend is doing your marketing.
Coaching content ideas that work as slideshows
Most coaching content fits a handful of pillars. Each row below is a repeatable format, not a one-off post.
| Content pillar | Example slide-1 hook | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Myths in your field | “4 pricing myths keeping your coaching offer cheap” | Myth vs fact |
| Mistakes you fix | “5 LinkedIn mistakes I fix on almost every client call” | Mistakes listicle |
| Lessons from experience | “Things I wish I knew before I started lifting at 35” | Things I wish I knew |
| Your framework | “The 3-question check I run before any career move” | Step by step |
| Client questions | “Is it too late to change careers at 40?” | Question and answer |
| A client story | “My client almost quit in week 3. Here’s what changed.” | Storytime, shared with permission |
| Your opinion | “Unpopular opinion: you don’t need a niche yet” | Hot take |

TikTok for coaches vs Instagram carousels for coaches
You can post the same slides on both, with one adjustment.
| TikTok photo post | Instagram carousel | |
|---|---|---|
| Max images | 35 | 20 |
| Best shape | 9:16, full screen | Up to 3:4 in the feed; taller images are cropped |
| Sound | Add a sound in the app | Optional |
| Who sees it | The For You feed shows posts to non-followers | Your followers’ feeds, plus Explore and recommendations |
| Next step | Profile link, comments | Link in bio, DMs, comment keywords |
TokCloner exports 1080×1920 (9:16) slides. They fill the screen on TikTok and in Instagram Stories. In an Instagram feed carousel they get cropped to 3:4 at most, so keep text in the middle of each slide. The Instagram carousel maker page shows exactly how much is cut.
The rules coaches must follow
Coaching content runs into advertising law faster than most niches, because it shows results. As of October 2026:
- Client results imply typical results. The FTC’s endorsement guidance says statements like “Results not typical” or “Individual results may vary” won’t change how people read a testimonial. You need proof that the result is typical, or you must state what clients generally achieve.
- Income claims are a known target. In 2021 the FTC sent notices to more than 1,100 businesses, naming “investment and business coaching” among them. The notices covered false or misleading claims about earnings, including that the results shown are typical.
- Fake testimonials are banned. The FTC’s rule, in effect since October 21, 2024, bans fake reviews and testimonials, including AI-generated ones from people who do not exist.
- TikTok bans get-rich-quick schemes and MLM, and it removes health misinformation that could cause significant harm. Its For You system also avoids repeatedly recommending extreme fitness or dieting content and overgeneralized mental health advice.
- Promoting your own business needs a label. TikTok requires the content disclosure setting when you promote your own business, product or service.
Three example coach slideshows
We wrote these to show the structure. Each teaches first and asks for one small step at the end.
Business coach: myth vs fact (6 slides)
- “4 pricing myths keeping your coaching offer cheap”
- “Myth: you need another certification before you raise prices. Fact: clients pay for an outcome they can picture.”
- “Myth: discounts bring better clients. Fact: they bring people who wanted a discount.”
- “Myth: hourly pricing is fairer. Fact: it punishes you for getting faster.”
- “Myth: you can’t charge more until you’re fully booked. Fact: price is a decision, not a reward.”
- “I teach my pricing framework in a free 20-minute workshop. Link in bio.”
Notice what is missing: no revenue screenshots and no “$20K months.” The post sells the method, not an income promise.
Career coach: mistakes listicle (7 slides)
- “5 LinkedIn mistakes I fix on almost every client call”
- “1. A headline that is just your job title.”
- “2. An About section written in the third person.”
- “3. Skills that don’t match the jobs you want next.”
- “4. No numbers. ‘Managed a team’ vs ‘Managed a team of 8.’”
- “5. The default banner image.”
- “Want my free profile checklist? Comment ‘profile’ and I’ll send it.”
The comment keyword on slide 7 turns readers into conversations you can follow up in DMs.
Strength coach: things I wish I knew (7 slides)
- “Things I wish I knew before I started lifting at 35”
- “Three sessions a week you keep beats a perfect plan you quit.”
- “Write your lifts down. It’s how you know you’re progressing.”
- “Sleep is part of the program.”
- “Form first. Weight second.”
- “Soreness is not the goal.”
- “I build simple 3-day plans for beginners over 30. Link in bio.”
No before-and-after body photos and no weight-loss promises. It keeps the post clear of TikTok’s fitness limits and the FTC’s typical-results problem.
Where TokCloner fits
TokCloner rebuilds a carousel that already taught well, in any niche, around your method. Your business profile holds your offer, audience and voice, so every clone sounds like you. Add your own photos, like headshots or workshop shots, to the media library and the slides look like your brand; library images cost 0 credits.
A clone takes 1–3 minutes. TokCloner does not post or schedule, so you upload the slides yourself. Read more on the TikTok slideshow maker page.
What to measure
- Saves and shares (sends). The clearest sign a post taught something people want to keep or pass on.
- Profile visits and follows per post. Whether the post made people curious about you.
- Comment keywords and DMs. Conversations are where coaching clients come from.
- Calls booked or leads per week. Count weekly, not per post, and compare with what you posted that week.
Mistakes to avoid
- Pitching instead of teaching. If a slide could be cut from the post without losing anything, cut it.
- Income screenshots and “results not typical” lines. The disclaimer does not make the claim safe.
- Invented or AI-written testimonials. Banned, and easy to spot.
- Too much text per slide. One idea per slide. Split long points across two.
- Copying another coach’s framework word for word. Clone the structure of a post, never someone else’s method or text.
Frequently asked questions
Should coaches be on TikTok?
If your clients are there, yes. TikTok's For You feed shows posts to people who do not follow you yet, which suits coaches who teach in public. Photo slideshows let you post daily without filming.
What should a coach post on Instagram?
Teaching carousels: myths in your field, common mistakes, your framework step by step, and answers to the questions clients ask before buying. End each one with a single next step.
How many slides should a coaching carousel have?
Enough for one idea per slide, usually 5 to 10. Instagram allows up to 20 per carousel and TikTok up to 35 photos per post, but short posts are easier to finish.
Can coaches post client results and testimonials?
Yes, if they are real and you can show they are typical, or you clearly state what clients generally achieve. The FTC says lines like "results not typical" do not fix a misleading testimonial, and its 2024 rule bans fake testimonials, including AI-generated ones.
Can business coaches share income results?
Be very careful. The FTC has warned business coaching programs, among others, against false or unrepresentative earnings claims, and TikTok bans get-rich-quick schemes. Teach your method instead of showing screenshots of revenue.
Do I need to disclose that I am promoting my own coaching?
On TikTok, yes. TikTok requires the content disclosure setting when you promote your own business, product or service.
